Written interpretation in the report
In this fictional sample, weekly planning received the highest average rating (M = 3.25, SD = 0.72), while avoiding phone distractions received the lowest (M = 2.70, SD = 0.92). These results describe the students’ reported routines; they do not establish that any routine improves academic performance.
In plain language
Planning study time was reported more consistently than avoiding phone distractions. That is a description of these responses—not proof of what causes better grades.
Read the method and limitations
We computed an arithmetic mean and sample standard deviation for each statement, using responses coded from 1 to 4. Higher means indicate greater agreement. Standard deviation describes the spread of responses.
All 20 records were created for this demonstration. No statistical significance test was performed. This small fictional dataset cannot support generalizations about real students or causal conclusions. Your actual method would depend on your research question, design, and data.

A response submitted twice counts one person twice. Exact duplicates are identified first, so the sample size reflects real respondents.

Check how survey answers are coded
“M”, “male” and “Male” should be one category, and a scale answer typed as “Agree” needs its assigned number. Your codebook lists how answers map to categories or numbers. Text is recoded only using these confirmed rules, never by guessing.

Flag invalid and missing values for review
An age of 230 is flagged and checked against the source instead of being changed to a likely value. A blank answer is recorded as missing, not as zero.

Prepare a documented, analysis-ready dataset
Flagged values are resolved against the source, the duplicate is removed, and missing values are coded and handled according to the analysis plan. Each change stays traceable to the raw file. Only then is a statistical test chosen and run.
